We went! We saw! and everything went spectacularly wrong since it rained!
Moonkey's first convention was a great learning experience, I used some of the profit from scrapping metals to hire Shane to help me supervise the booth and sell while I was running around buying stock for the lab. It was the first time Moonkey was able to hire someone so we could do two things at once, which I think is a pretty cool first step. Dennis the tailgate coordinator gave us a warm welcome, we made some money, and then it started to rain so we packed it up and socialized with the indoor vendors and blew the budget on lab equipment.
While inside I was able to find some high power ceramic components for rf transmission. I found a bunch of high current ceramic doorknob capacitors, and about a dozen ceramic transmitters, they came with sockets and bases too!
One of the highlights of the convention was running into Fred and Tim. Fred had an assortment of waveguides, sma connectors, and some fancy thermometers that he let me buy so now my RF station is better equipped thanks to Fred! Also, I spoke with Tim about one of my ideas for growing minerals and his response was encouraging, so I'm excited to break ground and see if I can come up with a functional proof of concept.
On the next convention I'm going to improve our strategy. I'm going to bring some tarps in case of rain. Also, unless I know the item is high demand I'm only going to stock a few units instead of a whole bin to allow for more variety on the table.
